Fishskin handle unusually bound with leather sageo rather than silk to traditional design. This looks contemporary with WW2 military tsuba and furniture, although the menuki are of civilian design. Possibly indicates customisation by a senior officer.
Plain steel scabbard.
Blade is in good polish with no marks.
Japanese Fishtail Yari (spear) Japanese spear (yari) blade on black shaft with brown cord binding detail and brass decorative collar.

Blade measures 9.5" 24cm long , 1.25" 3cm broad
tang measures 5.75" 15cm
The tang has no visible signature.
The blade is flat on one side and of triangular section on the other. There is a straight hamon visible on the flat side.

Short Court (Levee ) Sword Overall length 31.5" 80cm
Blade length 24 " 61cm approx
No visible maker's mark but blade has small traces of decoration remaining. Blade is in good polish with a couple of very small isolated blemishes.
The guard and knucklebow are highly decorated with a design matched on the chape nd collar of the leather scabbard. The pommel is an elegant pierced sphere which matches the pierced design of the handguard.
The handle is wound with alternating coiled wire and gilt strips- these are a little loose but intact. The handle has a little movement on the tang but the blade is fast.

There ahs been some light pitting to the metal work, but the proof marks are good and clear.
This is a very interesting pistol, which we sold ourselves a while ago. The previous owner has had to reluctantly let it go.
The trigger guard is engraved with C.P.F.A. Pearl. - possibly HMS Pearl- but worthy of more research. Trench dagger / fighting knife This is an interesting piece-if in better condition I would have been suspicious that it was not right ie altered-not necessarily during the war-however this dagger looks like a good honest piece.
It started life as a good quality German dress bayonet, and then has been altered to a trench dagger/fighting knife. The stud has been removed from the scabbard, possibly for ease of keeping in the boot. The scabbard has not been shortened , possibly for the same reason- ie keeping in the boot.

Adams Percussion Revolver by Thomas Horsley of York A Lovely double action Adams pistol stamped Thomas Horsley, who was of course a well known gunmaker in York.
It is in overall good condition with a very good working action . Approx 70% original blue remaining, but there are patches within the blue of light pitting and grey colouring.
Crisp action.
Also interesting that the butt cap is engraved to The Hon Mr Stourton BTE.
Research has indicated that the Stourton family lived at Holme Hall Allerton at the time that this pistol was made.

Made in 1945 (according to label)
It is in very good overall condition except the zipper is missing. All the teeth are present.
It has had a professional period repair on the outside (low down on the side under the arm) . On the inside there are some corresponding marks and small tears that look as if they may have been caused by shrapnel as there is also remains of staining in this area.
There are some grubby marks on the outside, but nothing to concern too much bearing in mind the age and use of this garment.

The iron hilt is traditionally designed with disc pommel . The finial is finished with a bobble rather than a spike. There is movement on the pommel disc.
The blade itself is not a traditional talwar blade but is the blade of a British 1854 or 1885 cavalry sword, Indo Persian Sword Firangi Blade measurement 37"
Blade tip has possibly been broken at some time and filed to form new tip.
Single fuller.
Edge is slightly gimped towards the end and is very sharp, Some dark patching but otherwise sound and flexible.
Overall length 44" to include curved tang finial.
Hilt sound and solid.

katana Blade-Late koto period/early Shinto C1600- unsigned-with midare hamon-showing superb activity-good curvature probably by Bizen smith-nice heavy bladed fighting sword-iron sukashi tsuba-C1700-showing water pool with brass/guilded fish jumping-plain iron fuchi-turbulent ocean kashira-the tsuka displays elephant hair bind-a rare form of binding that cannot be replicated in modern times-originaly only the finest swords were bound in this way-so this sword would have had a significant history to the family who previously owned it-to merit such an expensive bind to the tsuka-the saya has been nicely restored in an antique/tasteful style and has buffalo horn mounts with an iron kojiri in the form of a suspended bat-the Japanese symbology for long life and good health.the blade is in full and superb polish with one small kisu/flaw and a couple of minor openings to the hada-totaly acceptable in a blade of such great age-this in no way detracts from a genuine and superb sword that has a beautiful and solid feel and has served numerous previous Samurai owners over centuries.

Blade-Koto period-suragi-cut down from an earlier sword-has 4 mekugi ana (peg holes) an indicator of great age-this sword could well date between C1500-1600 era and is in exellent full polish showing a superb midare hamon rich with activity-plain iron tsuba-fuchi/kashira on iron with light vine scrollwork-the tsuka has an unusual rattan wrap-may have been laquered at some time-buffalo horn mounts to the restored saya-the kozuka-by-knife has a signed blade-"mino seki -family name?- Kane tori and this smith is listed as working around 1716-the hilt of the kozuka is in copper with dragon releif.All in all a nice old wakisashi-the blade has no major flaws other than one or two light openings to the grain of the hada-remarkable for such an old and no doubt well used sword.

The staghorn handle is in good condition as is the eagle and swastika badge, which has not been defaced.

The scabbard is in very good condition as is leather frog which is stamped with makers stamp and date 1937 - see photo.

The handle, which has the appearance of ivory, has silver coloured fixings which are engraved and very decorative.
The blade has had some rusting (none live) and has lost its tip, but it is still solid .

This is styled after the historical daggers of the late 17th/early 18th century period with typically plain wooden handle, simple pommel and short single edged blade.
This knife was often referred to as the Sgian Aklais and used for both hunitng purposes and as a weapon.

This is a typical late 19th century style sgian dubh. The wooden hilt is carved in traditional basket weave pattern with metal nails for decoration. This is a typical military style and was easier to carve that the Celtic knot work designs of 18th century sgian dubhs.

This is based on specimens of the late 18th century . The hilt is carved in a vigurious Celtic style which had been a feature on fighting dirks and daggers for the previous century.
The dagger by this time was very much a dress weapon worn in the sock. However it still had a functional feel and look. To house this weapon a metal mounted leather sheath was used.
This is a style the Sgian Dubh took in a transitional form between the Sgian Acklais and the later more recognisable sgian dubh.

This is a very old sword. The blade is rusty but solid.
There are some nicks to the edge of the blade.
A rare opportunity to own a genuine Chinese antiquity. 19th Century European style sabre. Solid blade , solid brass handle but wire missing from grip. English Civil War Triple Bar Helmet This is a genuine English Civil War helmet.
It has a 'triple bar' face guard and fixed neck protector tail.
Ear flaps have remains of leather straps rivetted- these look to have been cut off at some point.
There is some rusting to the earflaps and face guard, but overall the helmet is in solid stable condition with a dark age patina.
There is a makers mark aboove the left ear flap.
The hinge of the triple bar has had a crude repair to it- possibly contemporary.
An extremely desirable item and rare opportunity to own a piece of English History.

20th Century GDR parade sword A rare and collectible sword as the DDR period was relatively short.
In very good overall condition 19th century French /American style sword This is a sword that is difficult to categorise with any certainty as there are no markings. It is in the style of an American Civil War sabre. It is definitely a genuine antique sword.

It has a single fuller with IHS inscribed therein on both sides.

The blade shows signs of age but is solid.
There is a maers stamp on both sides of the blade, which is for Solingen 1560-1610 maker Wundes Johannes which would suggest that the dirk's blade has been made from a broken sword. This was a very common practice.
The hilt is made up of carved bone and brass mounts.
This dirk was on display at the Culloden Museum Centre and comes with an insurance assessment made at the time for the Scottish National Trust. It also comes with a Wallis and Wallis catalogue from the 1990s when this dirk was purchased at auction.
A rare opportunity to own an an original accreditted dirk.

It is in very good condition for its age- no moth that I can see.
The sword is in good consition with Victoria cypher on blade and handle.
The sword belt is the Victorian heavy leather belt but with King's Crown buckle. The buttons on the uniform are also Kings Crown. This may have been done for the coronation of Edward VII as this is definitely a Victorian uniform,
The bullion epaulettes are in near mint condition. They come in their original tin. There is also a tin for the bicorn hat and the whole comes with its original tin trunk with the owners initials.

Pair of brass barrelled officer flintlock pistols by A.W.Spies A nice pair of London made pistols. The lock is stamped with A.W. Spies who was a well known New York gun dealer of the early 19th century.
As these have brass barrels, they were probably used by a Naval officer.
The condition is very good for age. Please do not hesitate to request more photos or information if interested in this item. Flintlock pistol- large bore- This flintlock is probably, in our opinion , by Manton.
It is approx 11 bore.
Under the barrel is impressed 'fine twisted and proof marks - photos.
The touch-hole looks to be platinum,
The lock is impressed with 'Ashmore warranted' and we think this may have been replaced early in the gun's life- it is an excellent fit.
